Suzanne (Heidelberg) Anderson '83 transferred to the College of St. Catherine before her sophomore year, and immediately added her name to the St. Kate's swimming record book. In 1981 she won the individual state championships in the 200 IM, the 400 IM, the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Breaststroke. These outstanding performances qualified Anderson to swim seven events at the 1981 AIAW National Championships. At the 1981 national meet Anderson turned in one of the most impressive performances in history. She won the 200 IM, took second in the 100 IM. second in the 400 IM and was named to the All-America team in five events. Anderson's victory in the 200 IM was St. Kate’s first-ever National Champion.

Over the course of the next two seasons Anderson continued to be a force at the state and national level. During her junior and senior seasons she successfully defended her state championship in the 200 IM, and placed in the top ten in the nation 12 more times in seven different events. Suzanne was also a member of the outstanding 1982-1983 swimming and diving team that finished seventh at the NCAA Division III National Championships in St. Kate's first year as a member of the NCAA.

Anderson completed her St. Kate’s career with one national title, five individual state championships, and 17 All-American honors.
