Rita Pomroy graduated from the College of St. Catherine in 2005 and was a four-year member of the fastpitch softball team.  Pomroy played third base for a short time before she was converted to an everyday catcher. She embraced this challenge and her time behind the plate also helped at the plate, as she would set a number of school records.  Pomroy held four top-five hitting stats in the MIAC by her senior year (.746 slugging percentage, 40 RBIs, eight homeruns and 83 total bases).  She was ranked 14th in the NCAA for her season-high 40 RBIs and currently holds four career records for the Wildcats with 149 hits , 35 doubles , 17 triples and 82 RBIs.

Pomroy was a three-time captain and a three-time MIAC All-Conference player.  She was also a member of the 2005 team that made program history with the first 20-win season.  Academically, she was honored with the Abigail Quigley McCarthy Award, the Outstanding Senior in Business Award and the prestigious Dean of Student’s Award.  Pomroy played 139 games for the Wildcats, scoring 70 runs, 13 of which were homeruns. She also remains fourth all-time for the Wildcats with a .369 career batting average.
