Overview
The Athletic Training Room is available to any St. Catherine student-athlete for prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Location - Butler Center, first floor
Hours - Open before and after practices and events/competitions
Appointments - Available upon request of student-athlete. To schedule an appointment for the 2025-26 athletic year, please follow this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040445acad23a0f94-athletic1 
Coverage - An athletic trainer is on-site for all home practices and events, as well as those required by the MIAC for off-campus (hockey).

Student-Athlete Health and Insurance Information
All student-athletes wishing to compete on a St. Catherine varsity program MUST complete an Insurance/Health Packet before practicing or competing.

Forms should be completed based on a student athlete's status at St. Catherine. Incoming first-year, new and transfer student-athletes must complete the first-year packet, while student-athletes who have previously competed on a St. Catherine varsity team must complete the returning packet:
First-year/transfer student-athlete packet
Returning student-athlete packet

Insurance cards
A copy of both the front and back of the student athlete's insurance card MUST be included with a completed health packet before participation.

2025-26 Deadlines
Student-athletes wishing to compete with a St. Catherine varsity team for a 2025-26 season MUST have health packets and insurance cards submitted by Friday, August 1st.

Edgar has been the Head Athletic Trainer at St. Catherine University since 2005 and provides athletic training services for all eleven Wildcat varsity sports. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Health Education at Gustavus Adolphus College before receiving her Master of Science in School Health Education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Edgar also teaches as a member of the Exercise and Sport Science department at St. Catherine in addition to her duties providing care for Wildcat student-athletes

Christie Heikes, M.D.

Bio and Contact Information

Dr. Heikes serves as the team physician for Wildcat athletics and specializes in sports medicine, ACL reconstruction, patellar instability, knee, and shoulder arthroscopy, running injuries, total knee arthroplasty, and fracture care. She received her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Heikes also completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Minnesota Sports Medicine.
