Hall of Fame
Dr. Shannon Meyer graduated from the College of St. Catherine in 1988 and was a four year member of the track and field team. During her career at St. Kate’s, Meyer dominated the throws events, specifically discus. From 1985-1988, she made four consecutive trips to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Meyer earned All-America honors twice in her career and was also named MIAC All-Conference, MIAC Academic All-Conference, and the Francis T. McCahill Athlete of the Year. In her first appearance on the national stage, Meyer earned her All-America honor with a seventh place finish in discus with a throw of 41.31 meters. She was the first track and field athlete from St. Kate’s to qualify for a NCAA Track and field Championship and earn All-America honors in her sport. However, her best performance came at the very end of her collegiate career. Meyer took second in discus at the 1987 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship with a throw of 43.82 meters. That mark earned All-America honors for the second time in her career and set the school record. It now stands second all-time in St. Kate's history.
