CLERMONT, Fla. - St. Catherine softball faced two strong Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams on their third day of the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. After a rain delay forced the scheduled game against the No. 22 The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to a later start, the Wildcats' took on the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh first, capturing the win with a score of 5-1 over the Titans. Following the win over UW-Oshkosh, St. Kate's played a 9-inning game against the nationally ranked Blugolds, losing 5-2. St. Kate's is now 4-2 in Florida and 8-6 overall.

St. Kate's first run came in the fourth inning when sophomore
Emily Saurer hit a single to left field driving in junior
Amber Montero. Montero had two hits, one double, and two runs with four at-bats against the Titans. The balance of the runs came in the top of the sixth inning getting a 5-0 lead before Oshkosh scored a run in the bottom of the inning.

Alex Ehde has had a great debut as the number two batter in the line-up. Ehde had two hits, two doubles, and one run.Â

Annabelle Schutte collected the win with a near shutout allowing just one run on six hits with a complete game in the circle.Â
Game 2 St. Catherine 2, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 5
In what should have been the Wildcats' first game of the day, St. Catherine fell to the nationally ranked Blugolds in their second game of the day.Â
Eau Claire was on the scoreboard first in game two scoring a single run in the top of the third inning before St. Catherine senior
Trish Sherman picked up her first home run of the season to tie the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the 5th.Â
The game went to extra innings with Eau Claire scoring a run to take the 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth. Playing the international tiebreaker rule, Ehde was able to drive in senior
Anna Hinderaker to again tie the game at 2-2 headed into the 9th and final inning.Â
The late-inning effort was not enough though for St. Kate's as the WIAC foe, scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning.Â
Aside from collecting the loss, sophomore starting pitcher
Kathryn Proper had her second double-digit strikeout game in a week this time adding 10 for a weekend total of 25 in three games.Â
The Wildcats will play their final two games of spring break on Thursday facing another WIAC opponent, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 10:45 AM CT followed by a game against College of New Rochelle at 1 p.m. CT.Â
