CLERMONT, Fla. - The St. Catherine University softball team swept on day two at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. The now 7-5 Wildcats captured victories against regional opponents the University of Wisconsin-Stout 7-2 and Elmhurst College 4-2.

After falling to the Blue Devils 6-4 earlier in the season, St. Catherine softball defeated Stout 7-2 in game one on Monday morning.
The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning when senior
Jenna George hit a homerun driving in first-year
Alex Ehde.
The Blue Devils tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth hitting back to back doubles. St. Kate's added two more runs in the top of the fifth to take the 4-2 lead.
St. Catherine ran away with the game in the top of the seventh inning with junior
Amber Montero doubling to advance senior
Anna Hinderaker to third and eventually score an unearned run after an error by the Blue Devils left fielder.
St. Kate's last two runs of the inning came from solo hits by first-years
Angela Huepfel and
Lindsay Burr to drive in Montero and George.
George was 2 for 2 against the Blue Devils plus 2 RBI's. Sophomore
Kathryn Proper collected the win in the circle for the Wildcats with an astounding 13 strikeouts in game one allowing 8 hits.

The second game of the day for the Wildcats started with an early 2-run lead as Montero hit a triple to bring in Ehde. Burr reached first on an error by the defense to bring in Montero for the 2-0 lead.
St. Kate's went up 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning with a single from Ehde to bring in Hinderaker.
The Blue Jays scored their first run of the game in the top of the fourth before sophomore
Mikayla Grant drove in senior
Trish Sherman for the 4-1 lead.
With bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning, first-year pitcher
Annabelle Schutte walked the Blue Jay batter for their second and final run of the game.
Schutte faced twenty-eight batters striking out two for the win. The first-year standout allowed four hits in game two with two errors in the circle.
Hinderaker and Montero both had triples with Hinderaker going 3 for 4 and Montero hitting 1 for 4. In total, the Wildcats hit 10 for 29 in the win.
The Wildcats have a break from action Tuesday and will return to play on Wednesday, March 27 facing the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Game one is set for 1 p.m. CT followed by game two at 3:15 p.m. CT.
