ST. PAUL, MINN. – It's do or die time for the St. Catherine University hockey team. The Wildcats are currently on the outside looking in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) playoff picture, as they sit in eighth place with a 6-8-1 overall record and a 2-5-1 mark in conference play.
This weekend, St. Kate's look to get back in the playoff picture in its home-and-home series against the University of St. Thomas. The first game of the series will take place Friday night at the St. Thomas Arena in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Game two will take place in Drake Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota Saturday evening. Both games are slotted to begin at 7 p.m.

Here are the five things to know before puck drop between St. Kate's and St. Thomas:

Jordan Solheim (Thief River Falls, Minn. / Thief River Falls) is having a career year and leads the team in both points (16) and assists (12). Both those numbers are career highs for the senior and rank in the top-five in the MIAC. Currently, Solheim leads the conference in total assists (12) and assists against conference opponents (8), and is tied for second in points (16) with none other than St. Thomas' Kathryn Larson.
1 – The Tommies were considered the top-team in the MIAC during the preseason and even found themselves ranked in the top-15 in several national polls to start the year. However, St. Thomas struggled at the start of the season, and fell out of the national ranking after opening with a record of 0-3-1. Now, the Tommies overall record stands at 4-6-3 with a 3-2-3 mark in conference mark.
7 –Laken Muller (Inver Grove Heights, Minn. / Simley) has avoided the sophomore slump in every sense of the word. The sophomore forward currently leads St. Kate's in goals (7) and is second on the team in points behind Solheim with 15. Like her teammate, Muller also ranks in the top-5 in multiple statistical categories, including overall points (15), points against conference opponents (8), goals (7), and assists (8).
447 – St. Thomas has made 447 shots this season, with 303 coming against conference opponents. The Tommies average 34.4 shots per game overall, which the highest average in the MIAC.
.940 – Against MIAC opponents, goalie
Kristen Pechacek (Park Falls, Wis. / Chequamegon) has a .940 save percentage, which ranks second in the conference. Fellow net minder
