ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team came up short in a 6-2 MIAC decision to the No. 7 ranked Hamline Univeristy Pipers on Saturday at TRIA Rink.
After Hamline struck twice in the first period, St. Kate's settled in broke through late in the second.
Isabel Burt finished a set up by
Isabella Brady and
Halle Dunleavy, to put the Wildcats on the board and create momentum heading in intermission. That energy carried into the third as
Samantha Bogen buried an unassisted goal at 6:27 to trim the deficit again.
In net,
Addie Oettinger made 27 saves as Hamline fired off 33 shots, giving the Wildcats a chance to stay within reach throughout. St. Kate's won the faceoff battle finishing with 26 shots and a strong third-period push.
St. Kate's returns to action on Friday, February 20 hosting the College of St. Scholastica at 6 pm for Senior Day. They close out the season on Saturday in Duluth against the Saints.
