ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team honored six seniors on Friday evening at Drake Arena in their final home game of the season. The Wildcats fell in overtime to the College of St. Scholastica Saints 2-1 for game one of the final MIAC series.
After a scoreless first period, the Wildcats trailed by one heading into te third before answering early.
Rhiannon Ashworth tied the game at 4:12 of the third period with an even-strength goal, assisted by senior
Paige Loidolt, to make it 1-1.
St. Kate's forced overtime and had a look in the extra session but the game ended on an overtime goal with 59 seconds remaining, sealing the 2-1 decision.
The Wildcats out shot the Saints 31-26, won the faceoff battle 33-26, and held off the Saints three power play opportunities.

Anna Friendshuh finished the night with 24 saves while sophomore
Ana Myers tallied six shots on goal followed by Ashworth tallying five.
St. Kate's closes out the season in Duluth on Saturday for game two with the Saints. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 pm at Mars Lakeview Arena.
