DULUTH, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team closed out the 2025-26 season at College of St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon. The Saints blanked the Wildcats 5-0 at Mars Lakeview Arena moving St. Kate's to 9-16 overall and a MIAC record of 4-14.Â
The Wildcats generated 26 shots and created looks in all three periods, but Scholastica's Makenzie Cole turned aside every attempt to secure the shutout. St. Catherine's best push came in the middle frame, where the Wildcats doubled Scholastica in shots (12-4) and earned a power play, but couldn't break through.
Scholastica opened the scoring at 9:06 of the first period and built a 3-0 lead by the end of the frame. The Saints added another goal just 49 seconds into the second, prompting a goalie change for St. Catherine. Anna Friendshuh finished the game in net and made 13 saves in relief, while Lea Grassia recorded 11 saves in the opening 20:49. Together, the Wildcats' goalies stopped 24 shots.
St. Catherine went 0-for-2 on the power play and was 22-for-55 on faceoffs. Ana Myers led the Wildcats with six shots, while Samantha Bogen added four. Defensively, St. Catherine blocked 15 shots and stayed disciplined overall, taking three minor penalties for six minutes.
