SARTELL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University golf team opened the 2023 Fall season with second and third place team finishes led by senior
Katie Reeves. The first team posted a 36-hole round of 308-300 for second overall behind Carleton College while the second team was just behind at 318-305.
The Wildcats first team was led by junior
Kyra Venne who was one stroke shy of Reeves overall with a 77-71 148 to finish third individually. Behind Venne on the first team, rookie
Grace Petzold had a debut round of 74 (+2) and posted a 77 (+5) on the second day for an overall 151. Senior
Jaycee Rhodes was third on the first team with a 76-78 154 and sophomore
Emma Almquist improved from her day one round of 81 (+9) to a career low round of 75 (+3). Junior
Morgan Anderson rounded out the first team shooting 81-77 for a 36-hole round of 158.
Reeves career rounds included a first day score of 76 (+4) followed by a career low round of 71 (-1) on Sunday for a 36-hole low round of 147 to finish the weekend tied for 2nd overall. Newcomer
Paige Hillman carded a 79-77 156 in her debut as a Wildcat and rookie
Macey Martin was just behind with a 80-78 158. Senior
Emmie Verhaagh had a record weekend as well shooting 83-79 for her first under 80 round for a career low 36-hole score of 162.
Madison Place shot 90 in her debut round for St. Kate's before shaving seven strokes on the second day with an 83 for an overall 173.
The Wildcats travel to Waverly, Iowa next Saturday for the annual Wartburg College Fall Invite.
