WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University golf team delivered a strong showing in match play competition Sunday at Oneka Ridge Golf Club in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, winning four of five matches.
In the No. 1 match,
Caylin Cantwell posted the most decisive win of the day with a 7&5 victory over Catherine Jance. Cantwell took control early and never looked back, steadily building her lead before closing out the match on the 13th hole.
Arivia DeBoer followed with another dominant showing, defeating Sophia Anderson 6&5. DeBoer surged ahead mid-round and maintained control throughout, putting the match out of reach with several holes to spare.
Raquel Ahrens added to the Wildcats' strong outing with a 5&2 win over Maggie Roth puling away on the back nine to secure the victory.
Lolla Magrann battled in a competitive match against Kenna Henriksen but came out on the bottom with a score of 3&2.
The final match of the day proved the most dramatic, as
Emma Dobbins edged Taylar Nadler 1 up in a back-and forth contest securing the decisive hole late to seal the win.
St. Kate's individuals faced two from Wisconsin-Eau Claire with
Kali Hanson claiming her match 4&1 and
Sydney Dodds fell 3&1.
Next up for the Wildcats is the St. Olaf/Carleton Spring Invite Saturday at Willingers Golf Club and on Sunday at Legacy Golf Club.
