STILLWATER, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University golf team finished first overall in the St. Kate's Fall Invite shooting 294 on day two at Oak Glen Golf Course in Stillwater, Minnesota. The Wildcats second team finished fourth shooting 316 on Sunday led by sophomore
Emma Almquist.
St. Catherine moved into first beating out Carleton College by 20 strokes overall shooting a 36-hole round of 599 (+23).Â
Juniors
Kyra Venne and
Paige Hillman were the top finishers on Sunday both tied for third as individuals with Hillman carding the team's low round of 72 (E) in the final 18-holes. Venne was a stroke behind shooting 73 (+1) as they each shot 149 (+6) overall.Â
Rookie
Grace Petzold was a stroke behind Venne and Hillman shooting 73 (+1) in round two for an overall round of 150 (+7) and finishing tied for sixth overall. Junior
Morgan Anderson repeated her first round score shooting 76 (+4) finishing tenth and senior
Jaycee Rhodes posted a 77 (+5) to finish tied for 11th.Â
Almquist added two strokes from day one finishing with a 36-hole round of 150 tied with Petzold in sixth. Senior
Katie Reeves finished tied with Rhodes with an overall 153 and rookie
Macey Martin shaved two strokes to shoot 78 and finish tied for 18th.Â
Senior
Emmie Verhaagh improved by six strokes after the second 18-holes for an overall 170 first-year and
Madison Place made the largest improvement removing 14 strokes from the first round shooting 85 (+13). Sophomore
Lolla Magrann played as an individual over the weekend shooting 84 (+12) finishing tied for 26th overall.Â
Next up for the Wildcats is the MIAC Championships October 7-9 at the Royals Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.Â
