WAVERLY, Iowa -- The St. Catherine University golf team made history on Saturday with the lowest 18-hole team score in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) shooting 288 (E) before securing a 294 (+6) round on Sunday. The Wildcats first team led by senior
Jaycee Rhodes who shot 70-73 143 (-1) secured the team title while the second team finished fourth shooting 303-301 604 (+28) led by junior
Paige Hillman.
In round one, Rhodes carded a tournament best 70 (-2) for her lowest career 18-hole score and to finish tied for first overall. Just behind Rhodes was junior
Kyra Venne finishing the weekend even par going 71-73 144. First-year
Grace Petzold finished the weekend in fourth place shooting 73-72 145 and senior
Katie Reeves finished tied for 10th shooting 74-76 150. Rounding out the first team was junior
Morgan Anderson who was tied for 15th carding 75-77 152.
Hillman paced St. Catherine's second team tied for 6th as an individual with a 71-76 147. Sophomore
Emma Almquist was tied with Reeves shooting 75-75 and senior
Emmie Verhaagh had a record weekend shooting 79-74 153 tied 20th overall. First-year
Macey Martin was tied in 25th shooting 78-76 154 while fellow rookie
Madison Place shot 81-81 162.
St. Catherine's second team is playing in dual against the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Saturday, September 16 and competing against the University of St. Thomas in a dual on September 17. The Wildcats first team will compete in the Concordia University St. Paul tournament on September 18 and 19th at Troy Burne Golf Course in Hudson, Wis.
