NORMAL, Ill. -- The St. Catherine University golf team claimed their second consecutive team title, this time winning the Illinois Wesleyan University Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling. The Wildcats shot a 36-hole tournament record of 601 after shooting 304-297 while defeating the top-ranked team in Division III.
Sophomore
Morgan Anderson led the way on day two shooting a career round of 72 (E) to finishing third place overall. Fellow sophomore
Kyra Venne moved from tied in 21st after round one to finishing tied for fifth carding a 73 (+1) in the final 18-holes.
Junior
Jaycee Rhodes was one stroke behind Venne overall with a two-day total of 151 (+7) to finish tied for seventh and fifth-year
Sydney Brandt dropped three strokes from her first round shooting 75 (+3) moving into tied for tenth. Rounding out the team was
Emma Almquist who shot 82 (+10 ) in the final round coming in tied for 47th.
The Wildcats two individual golfers each tied for 29th after 36-holes with
Katie Reeves shooting 79 on day two and
Jessica Loera shooting 83 to each finish with an overall 161 (+18).
St. Catherine will appear at the Bethel University Rumble at the Ridge tournament next weekend playing at Oneka Ridge Golf Course in White Bear Lake, Minnesota April 22 and 23.
