EDINA, Minn. – St. Catherine University golf opened play at Braemar Golf Course with a strong first round, led by a standout performance from Caylin Cantwell.
Cantwell carded a five-under-par 67 to take the individual lead after the opening round. She went out in one-under 35 before catching fire on the back nine, posting a four-under 32 to finish with the low round of the day.
Sydney Dodds followed with a three-over 75, placing tied for ninth individually. Dodds made the turn at two-over before closing with a one-over 37 on the back nine.
Arivia DeBoer and Raquel Ahrens each finished at four-over 76 and are tied for 11th. DeBoer posted matching rounds of 38 on the front and back, while Ahrens rebounded from a three-over 39 on the opening nine with a one-over 37 coming home.
Elle Schweim rounded out the Wildcat lineup with a five-over 77, placing tied for 14th. Schweim opened with an even-par 36 before finishing with a 41 on the back nine.
St. Catherine's four counting scores totaled 294 in the opening round, with all five Wildcats finishing 77 or better.
Schweim is off first at 12:40 pm followed by DeBoer at 12:50 pm, Ahrens at 1 pm, Dodds at 1:10 pm, and Cantwell off last at 1:20 pm.
