St. Kate's came out Saturday in St. Peter and played a very good game against nationally ranked (#4) Gustavus. After a scoreless first period, the Gusties would score just under three minutes into the second period when the puck took an unlucky bounce off a St. Kate's player.
Gustavus would add a second goal later in the period on a power play. The final goal of the 3-0 win came mid-way through the third period on an even strength goal. Gustavus outshot the Wildcats 37-10.
Coach Marshall was happy with the effort after the game stating, "our girls shouldn't be hanging heads. Gustavus is a fast, strong team that has the personnel to play in mid-March. One of their goals bounced in off our foot, they had a nice power play goal, and the third, we let one of the best players in the country get in behind us. Our girls worked a lot harder today, and I'm happy about that."
St. Kate's takes on Bethel next Friday in another MIAC match up.
