The 2012-13 year concluded in a big way for the Wildcat athletic department as the St. Catherine University track and field team had five top-eight finishes on the final day of competition at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Championships Saturday. The most notable performances of the weekend, though, came from Faith Berg (Fall Creek, Wis.) who ended her season with a fifth-place finish in the discus. For her efforts, she has been named the final Wildcat Athlete of the Week for the year. 

Berg entered the weekend's meet with on of the top-five throws in discus among all MIAC competitors. The senior used a throw of 35.74 meters to make the finals on a windy Saturday at the University of St. Thomas. It turns out that her final throw of the finals turned out to be good enough for All-MIAC Honorable Mention. Berg threw 38.59 to pass Sam Imholte of the College of Saint Benedict for one of the Wildcats' two top-five finishes of the meet. Her throw was just off of her collegiate best. 

Prior to her performance Saturday, Berg had a personal record performance in the shot put Friday in a very competitive field. She threw 10.89 meters to surpass her previous best and finish 14th overall for one of the top Wildcat performances of the day. 

Berg and the Wildcats finished the MIAC Championships 11th overall with three Honorable Mention performances.
