Volleyball tops UW-River Falls, No. 18 UW-Platteville

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team battled to a 2-0 day with five set wins over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the No. 18 ranked University of Wisconsin-Platteville at Augsburg University Saturday afternoon. St. Kate's improves to 12-7 overall after the pair of non-conference matches. 

St. Kate's win over UW-Platteville is the first time in program history the Wildcats have defeated the Pioneers and the team's first ranked win of the season. 

Lexie Petrick led the Wildcats with 34 kills and 38 digs between ten sets hitting .274. She had an overall five aces with one block scoring 41.5 points for St. Kate's. Against the No. 18 ranked Pioneers, Petrick delivered 19 kills with a .486 attack percentage for her 20th career double double. 

Brenna Essig had a team best 41 digs between the ten sets with one ace while Lucia Neuman and Addison Preuss both had a combined 41 assists. 

Liz Rosen averaged 2.10 kills per set for a total of 21 with 30 digs, one block to score 22.5 points. Mallory Johnson was just behind with 18 kills and eight blocks. First-year Claudia Chmielewski had a career high 8 blocks in the match against River Falls to go along with the five she delivered in the match against Platteville. 

The Wildcats return to Butler Center on Friday, October 11 hosting Concordia College at 7 pm
