EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team fell in three sets to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on the first night of the Sandy Schumacher Invite hosted by the Blugolds. St. Kate's record is now 4-3 overall with two matches remaining in Eau Claire.
The Wildcats were led by sophomore
Tiffany Tellez with seven kills and six digs followed by
Mallory Johnson posting six kills.
Claire Segner recorded 13 digs in the three set match with three assists.
Overall, the Blugolds dominated play holding the advantage throughout the first set before St. Kate's rallied back in the second set tying the set six times and changing the lead four times but ultimately dropped the set 25-19. Eau Claire challenged St. Kate's again in the third set claiming the win 25-17.
Day two for the Wildcats includes a noon match against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls followed by a 4 pm match against University of Wisconsin-Superior in Eau Claire.
