NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University track and field time concluded the regular season for indoor at the Carleton College Meet of Hearts on Saturday collected numerous PR's and finishing fourth overall with a team score of 91 points.
In the field, junior
Chando Horvath led the way with two first place finishes in the shot put and the weight throw. Horvath threw a PR mark of 14.45m in the weight throw ranking her third all-time for the Wildcats. In the shot put, Horvath recorded a mark of 10.82m throwing the top mark of the meet.
Senior
Lydia Wehrspann finished appeared in the shot put coming in tenth overall throwing a mark of 9.04m while sophomore
Abby Althoff joined Horvath in both events throwing 8.81m in the shot put and 11.48m in the weight throw. Rounding out the throws department was rookie
Grace Kordus competing in the shot put with a PR mark of 7.43m, good for 16th place.
Claire Nichols led the jumpers on Saturday afternoon recording two runner-up marks in the high jump and long jump. In the high jump, Nichols was second with a mark of 1.50m and jumped a season-best mark of 4.85m in the long jump. Fifth-year
Reilee Schepper was third in the long jump with a mark of 4.65m and junior
Erin Doyle was fourth with a season-best mark of 4.35m. Schepper was also third in the triple jump going 10.36m ahead of sophomore
Burnices Barlue in fifth with a mark of 9.88m.
Rookie
Makayla Stinson was the top finisher in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.60 just ahead of Nichols with a PR mark of 7.83 in the event for fifth. First-year
Katie Yoder was 18th overall finishing with a debut time of 8.29. Stinson also recorded a PR time in the 200 meter run with a third place time of 28.03.
Megan Perkins and
Anna Marsolek competed in the 800 meter run coming in 9th and 10th, respectively. Perkins clocked in at 2:40.04 while Marsolek finished just behind with a PR time of 2:44.48.
Perkins PR performance of the day came in the mile finishing with a team best time of 5:59.12. Senior
Morgan Brandt appeared in her first event of the season returning from injury coming in 18th in the mile with a time of 6:32.69 and rookie
Teagan Schneider was 20th with a time of 8:04.94.
First-year
Brittany Breed finished the 3000 meter run with a PR time of 12:17.62 while junior
Brenna Nelson also finished with a PR time of 12:26.78 in 17th. In 19th was
Lily Harvey rounding out the event for St. Kate's with a PR time of 12:42.58.
Barlue's third event of the day was in the 55 meter hurdles finishing third with a time of 9.35. Her final event of the meet was the 4x200 relay competing with Doyle, Stinson and Yoder coming in fourth with a time of 1:55.41.
Next up for the Wildcats is the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Championships hosted Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25th at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
