STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team dropped a three-set match on the road to No. 17 ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Tuesday. The loss puts the Wildcats at 9-5 overall with a 2-1 MIAC record.
The UW-Stevens Point Pointers outhit the Wildcats holding them to a .032 hitting percentage throughout the match. Sophomore
Tiffany Tellez recorded a team best seven kills in the match with three digs. Senior
Claire Segner tallied 12 digs in the match while senior
Maggie Rosen had four kills and two blocks.
Despite falling in set one 25-19, St. Kate's brought the set within two points twice near the end before the Pointers ran away. In the second set, both teams rallied tying the set nine times with three lead changes. However, the Pointers claimed the lead after a 10-10 tie taking the second set 25-18. In the third and final set, St. Kate's fell behind early before inching back to trail by just one at 15-14 Pointers. St. Kate's couldn't hold the momentum though adding just two more points as the results of errors on the other side of the net to fall 25-16.
St. Kate's returns to conference play as they travel to the Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota on Friday evening at 7 pm. They return home on Saturday hosting Macalester College at 5 pm.
