Wildcats finish fourth at Vanessa Seljeskog Classic

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Catherine track and field finished in fourth place at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic hosted by Macalester on Saturday afternoon. Overall the Wildcats posted six PR marks with several student-athletes making their debut in purple and gold. 

Rookie Madi Genz scored 16 points for St. Kate's claiming medalist honors in the 60-meter dash with a PR time of 8.17. She also had a debut performance in the 200-meter run placing third with a time of 27.89.

Sophomore Erin Doyle had a PR day finishing seventh in the 200-meter run with a time of 28.77. She also appeared in the long jump with a debut mark of 4.34m, good for tenth place. 

Junior Claire Nichols clocked a preliminary time of 8.53 in the 60-meter dash before finishing fifth in both the high jump and long jump. Nichols' top mark in the high jump was 1.45m while her best jump in the long jump was 4.81m. 

Senior Maclairen Strong appeared in the 60-meter dash preliminary heats with a time of 9.90 while also finishing 14th overall in the long jump with a mark of 3.42m. 

Four Wildcats had a showing in the mile led by senior Julia Clark in third overall with time of 5:41.05. Clark's top performance of the day was in the 1000-meter final clocking in with a PR time of 3:25.61 in fourth place. 

Morgan Brandt came in tenth place in the mile at 6:28.65 just ahead of teammates Emma Meyer and Lily Harvey. Meyer was eleventh with a PR time of 6:37.09 and Harvey made her debut in the event with a time of 6:55.08. 

Burnices Barlue debuted in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday with a preliminary time of 10.28. The multi-event athlete had a PR mark in the triple jump of 10.03m finishing sixth and finished twelfth in the long jump at 4.13m. 

Senior Reilee Schepper joined Barlue in the triple and long jump finals coming in fourth and seventh, respectively. In the long jump, Schepper recorded a mark of 4.77m just after her team-best mark of 10.40m in the triple jump. 

Bryana Leverentz came in seventh overall in the triple jump with a mark of 9.76m and posted the thirteenth best mark in the long jump at 3.96m. 

Senior Lauren Isaacson finished third in the shot put with a mark of 11.50m ahead of Lydia Wehrspann in sixth. Wehrspann's top throw of the afternoon was 9.13m. The final Wildcat in the event was rookie Abby Altoff finishing ninth with a PR mark of 8.88m.
