MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine hockey team dropped game two of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) falling 7-2 against Augsburg University on Saturday.
Augsburg carried a three-goal lead after the first period when
Madison Fleming scored at 11:19 in the second. Fleming's first collegiate goal was assisted by
Laura Denchfield and
Veronica Gruett. The Auggies added two additional goals in the second for a 5-1 lead after two periods.
Penalties got the best of the Wildcats in the third giving up two power-play goals.
Marie Reimer found the back of the net from
Kaitlyn Blair just eight seconds after the Auggies final goal for her fifth goal this season.
Abby Severson started in net playing ten minutes before senior
Karly Schmidt entered the game finishing out the period. Schmidt remained in goal through the second period with
Elizabeth Kubicek rounding out the third.
St. Kate's is on the road again Friday traveling to St. Cloud for a 7 pm game against the College of Saint Benedict and return home Saturday at 2 pm for game two of the MIAC series.
