ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team fell to the College of Saint Benedict Bennies 4-3 on Friday evening in St. Cloud. With the loss, St. Kate's is now 5-10-1 and 1-7 in MIAC play.
The Bennies struck first scoring three minutes into the opening period. Their added a short-handed goal at 10:11 in the first taking a two-goal lead. Sophomore forward
Lauren Henriksen cut the lead in half with over seven minutes left with an assist from rookie
Joslin Mumm.
St. Ben's had the lone goal of the second to take a two-goal lead again with 13 seconds remaining period and added their final two minutes into the third.
Senior
Sophia Gorski scored her eighth goal of the year with help from
Marie Reimer and
Kaitlyn Blair at 5:03 while
Maiah Robert scored her first collegiate goal seven seconds later from
Veronica Gruett and
Laura Denchfield.
St. Kate's will host the Bennies in St. Paul on Saturday. The game is scheduled for 2 pm at Drake Arena.
