ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine volleyball team (7-7, 1-0 MIAC) rolled past Carleton College (3-9, 0-4 MIAC) in straight sets on Wednesday night at
Butler Center, 25-22, 25-21, 25-14.
Maggie Rosen had a day as she tallied a team best ten kills hitting .308.
Bryana Leverentz hit .545 with seven kills, four digs, two blocks, plus an assist. Leverentz and
Lexie Petrick each had three aces in the match while Petrick collected eight kills.
Marissa Gilbertson had an impressive match picking up 23 assists, 12 digs, three aces, and two kills.
St. Kate's jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first set before the Knights rallied back and took a 9-7 lead. Carleton kept the set tight going back and forth before the Wildcats forced three errors and Gilbertson recorded ace.
In set two, the Knights trailed St. Kate's 8-2 early without an opportunity to comeback. The set got within three near the end but the Wildcats pushed past the Knights 25-21.
The final set started out with a 7-1 lead with five straight points from Leverentz, including two aces. The Wildcats cruised through the final set halting the Knights from adding more than 14 points.
St. Kate's is home again on Saturday hosting non-conference foe University of Wisconsin-Superior at 6 pm.
