ST. PAUL, Minn. -- For the second time in less than a week, the St. Catherine University volleyball team took down Martin Luther College in straight sets. The Wildcats' hosted the non-conference opponent at
Butler Center Tuesday evening with set scores of 25-11, 25-14, and 25-21 to improve to 5-5 on the season.
The Wildcats tallied their sixth three straight wins over the Knights, this time led by senior
Lauren Isaacson, who was responsible for eight kills and six digs in the three-set match hitting .412.
St. Kate's jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first set and pushed it to 16-5 after seven straight serves from junior
Abbi Harker. The Wildcats ran away with the set shortly after taking their first point of the match at 25-11.
In set two, the Knights grabbed their lone lead over the match before St. Catherine rallied off six points with first-year
Lexie Petrick at the line, including two service aces. The Wildcats continued to run away with the set with a result of 25-14 to go up two sets to none over the Knights.
The third set was back and forth for the first ten points before St. Kate's took the lead at 11-5. The Wildcats were up by a nine-point margin at 21-12 near the end of the set when the Knights got a last wind to chip away at St. Kate's lead and coming back at 23-19 and claimed the win at 25-21.
The Wildcats travel to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Friday for the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament for three matches Friday through Saturday. They open the tournament against the Blugolds Friday at 5 pm.
