WAVERLY, Iowa -- The St. Catherine University golf team carded a program-low round of 293 in the first round of the Wartburg Fall Invitational at Prairie Links Golf Course. St. Kate's hold down the first place spot shooting +5 after 18-holes with a six stroke lead over Gustavus Adolphus College and Illinois Wesleyan University at 299 (+11).
The Wildcats were lead by rookie
Kyra Venne carding a program-low round of 70 (-2) with three birdies holding down the No. 1 spot tied with Ana Schwarz of Bethel University. Senior
Sydney Brandt is one stroke back shooting a career-low 71 (-1) collecting four birdies to land her in third place. Following suit, rookie Greta McAthur shot a career-best 72 (E) with three birdies in a six-way tie in fourth place.
Sophomore
Jaycee Rhodes and senior
Kate Taylor shot 76 (+4) to tie in 24th as senior
Dasha Parker tallied an eleven over par 83 tied for 60th.
Katie Reeves led the Wildcats second-team carding an 82 (+10) ahead of rookie
Morgan Anderson and sophomore
Jessica Loera at +15 tied for 75th. Senior
Clara Godoy-Henderson rounded out the second team shooting +22 for a 94.
McArthur is off the tee first on Sunday with a 9 am start. St. Catherine's first-team is off at 9:08 am with Taylor off first. The second team will also tee off at 9 am from the 10th hole with Godoy-Henderson up first.
