COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- St. Catherine University golf made history on Monday as the first program to secure back-to-back Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championship Titles. The St. Kate's golfers won the 2021-22 MIAC Women's Golf Championship at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minnesota after carding a team score of 764 (+44) after 45 holes. The Wildcats won their third MIAC Championship earning the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships in the spring.
Trailing after the first round on Saturday, the Wildcats were able to move into first place Sunday, remaining at the top for the final 36-holes. With a nine-stroke lead headed into the final round, St. Kate's complied a tournament-best round of 303 on Monday to clinch their second-straight conference title.
All five Wildcats finished in the top-14 led by first-year
Greta McArthur who tied for third place with an eleven over par 191 (38-74-79). McArthur finished her first MIAC Championship appearance with six birdies over 45-holes.
Sophomore
Jaycee Rhodes was plus eight on Monday to finish sixth overall at 12 over par. Rhodes had a second-best 34 pars over three days behind the individual champion, Anna Tollefson from Bethel with 35.
First-year
Kyra Venne had an impressive five birdies in her final round, including three on the back-nine for a round of 75 (+3). Venne's 45-hole score of 193, was the third-best score for St. Kate's landing her tied for seventh overall.
Senior
Kate Taylor became a three-time MIAC All-Tournament team honoree carding a 45-hole score of 194 (+4) to finish tied for ninth overall. Taylor had 26 pars over the three rounds and four birdies.
Senior
Sydney Brandt carded the team's low round on Monday shooting 74 (+2) with two birdies. Brandt finished the tournament at +18 overall at 198 (42-82-74).
The conference championship gives the Wildcats the MIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, which will be will be played at Woodlands Country Club in Houston, Texas, May 10-13.
