WAVERLY, Iowa - It was a record setting weekend for the St. Catherine University golf team claiming a first place finish, three top-10 finishes, and seven career-best 18-hole scores, in just the second tournament of the season. After finishing the first 18-holes with a program best 297 (+9), St. Kate's concluded the two-day event with a 36-hole program best finish of 602 (+26).
Going into the second round tied for 4th after shooting a career-low 72 (E), junior
Jordan Amelon continued the momentum to finish +1 shooting 73. The Iowa City native carded 11 pars and 3 birdies finishing with a 36-hole career best 145 (+1), which is a another program best for the Wildcats.
Sophomore
Sydney Brandt remained tied for 7th on day two adding one stroke to her first day score of 73 (+1). Brandt tallied 14 pars and 1 birdie to finish the round shooting 74 (+2) and a two-day score of 147 (+3). Brandt's 36-hole finish puts her in the No. 2 spot for the Wildcats low-round finish.
Improving four strokes from day one was rookie
Sydney Brown with the Wildcats best finish of the day at 72 (E). Landing in 9th place with a two-day 36-hole score of 148 (+4). Collecting a team best 13 pars and 3 birdies, Brown earns the No. 3 spot on the Wildcat Leaderboard in just her second collegiate appearance.
Brown's fellow rookie,
Dasha Parker finished the two-day Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) heavily filled tournament T36 with a 36-hole score of 158 (+14) which puts her in the No. 7 spot for best two-round finishes.
Senior
Maddie Weinman came in T47 with a two-day score of 161 (+17) which included her career best round of 76 (+4) on the first day. Weinman finished one stroke ahead of sophomore
Kate Taylor who finished with a 162 (+18). Taylor battled back on day-two finishing with her career low-round score of 76 (+4). She carded 12 pars and 1 birdie in her career-best round tying for 51st in the 17 team event.
The Wildcats return to the course September 14 and 15, for the DIII Classic at Emerald Greens in Hastings, Minn.
