ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Wildcat softball team went 2-0 on the second day of the Luther College Dome Games in Rochester, Minnesota. St. Catherine topped Nebraska Weslayen 3-1 and Buena Vista 5-4 in the Rochester Community Technical College Dome.
GAME 1 St. Catherine 3, Nebraska Wesleyan 1
St. Catherine picked up a big 3-1 win in the first game of the Wildcats' doubleheader and third game in under 24 hours. The Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves were tabbed as the No. 4 team in the American Rivers Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll were 2-0 after their first day in Rochester.
Both teams went 1-2-3 in the first inning not getting a hit until sophomore
Alyssa Wicks got on base with a single with two outs in the top of the 2nd. St. Kate's couldn't score though leaving three on base when sophomore
Emily Saurer flied out.

Amber Montero had another big game as she drove in first-year
Jasmine Ziegler and senior
Anna Hinderaker to bring the score to 2-0 in the top of the 3rd.
The Wildcats third run came in the double of the 4th with junior
Autumn Mortenson getting things started with a double to left field getting herself in scoring a position with just one out. Hinderaker brought Mortenson in with a triple to center field.
Neb. Wesleyan picked up their run in the bottom of the 6th on an error at second base advancing the Prairie Wolves home.
GAME 2 St. Catherine 5, Buena Vista 4
The Wildcats second game was more eventful as the Beavers from Buena Vista University and the No. 5 team in the American Rivers Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Beavers opened the first inning with 3 runs on 2 hits and a Wildcat error. St. Catherine wasn't able to get on the board until the bottom of the 2nd inning when Hinderaker hit a single to center field bringing in first-year pinch runner

St. Kate's took the lead at 4-3 in the bottom of the 3rd with first-year
Angela Huepfel bringing in the pinch runner for senior
Jenna George, Ziegler. First-year
Lindsay Burr hit a double to center field to get in scoring position with Wicks at bat and Mortenson on deck. Wicks hit a single to bring in Burr followed by Mortenson's double to left bringing in Wicks.
The Beavers tied the game again on an error for their final run of the game as the Wildcats' picked up their final run in the bottom of the 6th when Montero hit a double to center field to bring in first-year

Kathryn Proper still has a 0.53 ERA with 2 wins and 1 loss.
St. Catherine returns to Rochester next Sunday, March 3 facing the University of Dubuque at 4 p.m. and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 6 p.m.
