ST. PAUL, Minn. - St.Catherine suffered a tough 69-50 loss to the Bethel University Royals on Wednesday at
Butler Center. The loss drops St. Catherine to 3-5 record this season and 1-4 against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) teams.
The Wildcats committed 29 turnovers en route to the 19 point loss to the undefeated Royals. St. Catherine started out within two points for much of the first quarter and trailing by just five after ten minutes. In the second quarter, the Royals defense held the Wildcats to just six field-goal attempts, two shots from behind the arc and four from the line for a total of ten points.
After scoring eleven points in the third quarter, St. Catherine's offense picked up in the final ten minutes of the game going on a ten-point run to get back within 20 points. The Royals scored their final basket with just under three minutes to play as the Wildcats added another six points to close out the conference contest.
Senior
Danica Cambrice scored a team-best eleven points against the Royals for her sixth straight double-digit game. Cambrice was 50 percent from the field with three boards, two assists, and one steal.
Rookie
Bree Glynn added ten points in the game for her second double-figure game in her debut season in purple and gold. Glynn had two steals on the night tied with seniors
Jackie Radford and
Emma Nelson making up six of the team's eleven between the three of them. Glynn's fellow newcomer
Maggie Trnka had a season-high seven points against the Royals with two rebounds.
St. Catherine is home again on Saturday, December 14, hosting the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a non-conference game at 2 pm.
