The Wildcats picked up where they left off Friday evening with another solid outing against the Pipers. Hamline was the first to score midway through the first period on a power play goal. Although St. Kate's outshot Hamline 11-9 in the first period, the score was 1-0 at the first intermission.
Most of the second period remained scoreless, until
Kallie Geissler knotted it up at 1-1 at the 15:59 mark.
Kasey Evans and
Cassie Rooney picked up the assists. Just over three minutes later, the Wildcats would strike again on the power play with
Hallie Paschke netting the game winning goal, assisted by
Kelsey Abrahamson and
Kayla Clafton. After two periods, St. Kate's 2, Hamline 1.
The offensive onslaught continued early in the third period as
Megan Killmer scored just 1:17 in on another power play goal, with
Kayla Clafton and
Kelsey Abrahamson adding their second assists of the game. The Wildcats weren't finished scoring as senior
Cassie Rooney would score midway through the period, assisted by
Kayla Clafton (her third of the day) and
Kasey Evans (2nd of the day). Final score 4-1 St. Kates.
Coach
Brad Marshall was very pleased with the effort put forth by his seniors who notched seven of the teams 12 scoring points (1 goal 6 assists). "Really Happy with our seniors stepping up the last 40 minutes. Kayla, Cassie and Kelsey supplied points while Liz (Bauer) and Bridget (Braastad) played some of their best hockey."
With the win, St. Kate's improves to 11-9-2, while Hamline falls to 8-13-2.
