The Wildcat volleyball team had a busy day Saturday in Chicago, playing three games in a row at the Aurora University tournament. The Wildcats took care of business in all three games, defeating Roosevelt University and North Park University in straight sets, before taking down host Aurora 3-1.
The Wildcats had a happy ride home from Chicago after what Coach Phelps called a "productive weekend for the team." The 3-0 weekend sweep was essential for the team, bouncing back from their first conference defeat on Wednesday by playing some solid volleyball and eliminating some of the errors that plagued them earlier in the week.
Roosevelt and North Park were no match for the Wildcats. St. Kate's defeated Roosevelt 25-23, 25-16, 25-12 and won against North Park by a score of 25-10, 25-16, 25-17. Aurora provided a tougher challange, with the Wildcats winning the first two sets by identical scores of 25-22, before Aurora took a close battle in the third set, 29-31. The Wildcats quickly responded to keep Aurora from sending the match to a fifth set, winning 25-16 in the fourth set.
