ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 loss at Bethel University on Friday evening. St. Kate's closes out the conference season at 6-5 earning the No. 5 seed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs, earning their fourth consecutive bid to the post season.
The Wildcats battled in a match that featured 20 ties and nine lead changes, keeping the Royals on their heels early in each frame before Bethel pulled away behind a .289 team hitting percentage.
Mallory Johnson led the Wildcats with eight kills and added two blocks, while
Marta Haugen followed closely with nine kills and nine digs.
Liz Rosen contributed six kills, seven digs, and an ace, and
Madison Fagan chipped in four kills and a block assist.
At the net,
Emily Bredman made her presence felt with three total blocks and two kills, and
Emma Nordeen added six kills and a block assist. Setters
Addison Preuss and
Jalyn Wolle combined for 31 assists, with Preuss tallying 20 and Wolle eleven.
Defensively, Maneeje Mostaghimi anchored the back row with eight digs, while Rosen and Haugen each added seven and nine respectively.
The Wildcats finish the season 10–16 overall and will face the Royals again on Tuesday, November 11 for the playoff quarterfinals. Tickets for the playoffs can be purchased online
