ST. PAUL, Minn. — St. Catherine University volleyball closed out its 2025 campaign Tuesday night with a competitive four-set battle against Bethel University in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Quarterfinal, falling 19-25, 20-25, 18-25, 22-25 at the Robertson Center.
The Wildcats came out strong in the opening frame, hitting .196 as they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Key runs fueled by kills from
Madison Fagan,
Marta Haugen, and
Emma Nordeen, along with back-to-back aces from
Addison Preuss, powered St. Kate's to a 25–19 first-set win.
Bethel regrouped in the second and third sets to take control of the match. Despite a strong defensive effort from the Wildcats, highlighted by Maneeje Mostaghimi's 11 digs and Fagan's six total blocks, the Royals pulled ahead 2–1.
St. Kate's pushed back in the fourth, trading leads five times as the set featured long rallies and tight play on both sides. Nordeen, Fagan, and Haugen each delivered clutch kills down the stretch, but Bethel closed out the match on a late 3–0 run to seal the victory.
Fagan paced the Wildcats with 12 kills, six blocks, and 17 points, while Haugen added 12 kills and five digs. Preuss and
Jalyn Wolle combined for 34 assists, and
Emily Bredman and
Liz Rosen each chipped in two service aces.
