The St. Kate's Hockey team took down Hamline for the second night in a row Saturday.
Ashley Grell and
Michaela Michaelson each score twice in leading the Wildcats to a 4-1 victory.
"It was great to see our leaders step up and take over in the third period. Hamline kept coming at us in the second period and kept it close. Our hard work paid off," stated Wildcat's coach
Brad Marshall after the game.
Ashley Grell scored two first period goals, the first only 1:39 into the game on assist from
Liz Bauer and
Megan Boehmer. Grell's second goal of the night came at the 14:24 mark, assisted by
Ashley Tilton and
Bridget Braastad.
The Piper's came within a goal and kept the Wildcat's scoreless in the second period. The one goal margin would grow to three in the third period when
Michaela Michaelson scored a pair of goals to put the game out of reach. The first coming at 11:56, assisted by
Cassie Rooney. The second and final goal of the night for Michaelson and the Wildcats came on a power play, assisted by Rooney and
Meghan Lange at 17:28.
With the win, St. Kate's moves to 3-1 on the season (2-0 in conference play).
