St. Kate's Hockey starts off their conference season with a solid performance and a 3-0 win over Hamline Friday night at Ridder Arena. Scoring started for the Wildcats at 10:08 in the first period when
Michaela Michaelson found the back of the net on an unassisted goal.
At 10:25 in the second period the scoring continued when
Ashley Tilton scored on an assist from
Katie Jirik. The Wildcats spread the points around when at the 18:11 mark,
Kayla Clafton scored a power play goal on assist from
Bridget Braastad and
Ashley Grell.
Head Coach
Brad Marshall said of the game, "It's a good way to start conference play. We'll take the two points and focus on playing another solid game tomorrow night."
St Kate's goalie's
Mel Gerten and
Kayla Lange combined on the shutout, stopping a total of twelve shots on goal from the Pipers. The Wildcat's peppered Hamline's keeper with 38 shots on the night en route to the win.
The Wildcats look to continue their solid play at Hamline's Drake/SPA Arena Saturday evening at 7:15.
