Sophomore Jordyn Wentzel had a weekend breaking her own program record in the 200-yard butterfly for a first-place finish and the top-time in the MIAC and Division III of 2:03.07. In total, Wentzel grabbed five top-finishes at the JoAnn Andregg Invitational and one second-place relay finish. She also finished with the top-times this season in the MIAC and Division III in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.65) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.50). In addition, Wentzel was part of victorious relay teams in the 400 and 800 freestyles and helped the 200 free relay team to a second-place result. Each of Wentzel's individual finishes were NCAA B Standard Qualifying times while the three relay team finishes all rank in the No. 1 spot this season in the MIAC. Wentzel noted, “Representing St. Kate’s as a student-athlete has been such an awarding experience for me. In my individual races one of the most important things to me is helping the team achieve our team goals that we talked about at the beginning of the season. The team overall had some really great swims this past weekend and this motivates me to try and swim my best and keep the energy levels up. I’m so honored to be receiving the fleur-de-lis following my performances. The team and coaching staff this year has been so encouraging of each other and I’m looking forward to mid-season in a few weeks.” Her strong performance this weekend also earned her the honor of MIAC Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. In her Wildcat swimming career, Wenzel has earned a total of five Fleur-de-lis awards with this being her first this season.
