ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University track and field team turned in a strong showing at the Janis Rider / Doug Bolstorff Invitational at Macalester College Friday and Saturday, highlighted by multiple personal best performances.Â
St. Kate's saw its biggest impact in the distance events, where Kaitlyn Peterson led the way. Peterson recorded a personal-best 5:07.03 in the 1500m to place 10th overall, then followed it up with another PR in the 5000m, finishing 20th in 20:22.08.
Mist Sit added a strong double of her own, running 2:40.28 in the 800m and posting a personal-best 5:18.90 in the 1500m. Sit's efforts helped anchor a deep Wildcats middle-distance group.
In the 800m, Lauren Kennedy clocked 2:44.57, while Felicity Lamb notched a personal-best 2:48.90. Miranda Kerndt rounded out the group with a 3:07.11 performance.
That same quartet carried momentum into the 5000m, where Kennedy delivered a personal-best 21:38.15, Lamb finished with a PR of 22:21.74, and Kerndt crossed with a PR of 23:44.54.
In the field events, Maggie Lewandowski led the Wildcat throwers with a 35.42m (116-02) mark in the hammer throw, good for 27th, added a 23.73m (77-10) performance in the discus, and recorded a personal-best mark of 10.65m (34-11.25) in shot put.
Freshman Alehsha Rentz recorded a personal-best 29.57m (97-00) in the hammer throw, showing continued progress early in her collegiate career.
In the javelin, Lillian Sembello posted a mark of 13.06m (42-10).
The Wildcats are in action again on Wednesday competing in the Joe Sweeney Invite at St. Thomas.Â
