SARTELL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University golf team finished their first tournament of the season in fifth place overall. The two-day event played at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell, Minnesota was hosted by the College of Saint Benedict with a field of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) teams.
In the second rounds, St. Kate's shaved three strokes off their team score shooting 323 led by rookie
Raquel Ahrens and sophomore
Caylin Cantwell. Ahrens carded a three birdie round of 77 (+5) improving by five strokes from her first round. Cantwell posted a round of 80 (+8) in round two to tie in tenth place with Ahrens.
First-year
Sydney Dodds improved by a stroke on Sunday finishing nine-over par with an 81 (+9) and finish 19th individually. The final golfer making up the team score for St. Kate's was first-year
Arivia DeBoer with a round of 85 (+13).
Individuals
Kali Hanson and
Emma Dobbins each shot twelve over in the second 18-holes with Hanson finishing 25th individually and Dobbins tied with DeBoer in 31st. Senior
Lolla Magrann was one stroke behind Dobbins and DeBoer overall shooting plus 13 to finishing 34th.
The Wildcats will appear in the Carleton College tournament next weekend as they play the first round at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club and day two is at Legacy Golf Club in Faribault.
