Volleyball falls to St. Olaf, Wis. Stevens Point on the road

NORTHFIELD, MINN. -- St. Catherine University volleyball wrapped up its Saturday doubleheader at the Skoglund Athletic Center with a pair of matches against top regional competition, falling to No. 18 St. Olaf in MIAC play before bouncing back with a strong effort against Wisconsin–Stevens Point.

Match 1: No. 18 St. Olaf 3, St. Catherine 0
The Wildcats opened the day against conference-leading St. Olaf, who entered the match undefeated in MIAC play. Despite a competitive start, the Oles' high-powered offense proved too much, taking the sweep by scores of 25–16, 25–17, 25–3.

St. Kate's was paced by Liz Rosen, who tallied six kills and six digs, while Madison Fagan added five kills and a pair of blocks. Emily Bredman contributed four kills and a solo block, and setter Addison Preuss dished out 10 assists.

Match 2: Wisconsin–Stevens Point 3, St. Catherine 1
In the nightcap, the Wildcats bounced back with one of their most balanced performances of the season before ultimately falling in four sets, 19–25, 25–18, 11–25, 20–25.

Quinlynn Parish filled the stat sheet with seven kills, 16 digs, and three aces, while Addison Preuss and Jalyn Wolle combined for 33 assists and 19 digs to keep the offense rolling. Alivia Hanover led the front row with nine kills, and Claudia Chmielewski added six kills and two blocks. Grace Nelson chipped in 11 digs and a pair of aces from the service line.

The Wildcats' best stretch came in the second set, where they hit .302 as a team and won 25–18 behind consistent serving and aggressive attacking from the pins.

The Wildcats move to 8–15 overall (4–4 MIAC) and will close out the regular season with a key home stretch of conference play. They host Augsburg University on Friday, October 31 before facing the Knights from Carleton for Senior Night at the Butler Center on Saturday, November 1.
