LAKE CITY, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University golf team won their fourth team tournament of the 2024 fall season, this time taking down a field of Division II teams. Sophomore
Grace Petzold delivered a team low round of 146 (+4) to finish second overall individually two strokes ahead of senior
Kyra Venne tied in third with a 148 (+6). The team overall carded a 36-hole round of 590 (297-293), seven strokes ahead of Minnesota State University-Mankato with an overall 597.
During the second round, Petzold tallied a one over par 72 tied with Venne's round of 72 on Tuesday. Behind Venne by just one stroke was
Morgan Anderson shooting 149 (+7) after a round of 76 while sophomore
Emma Almquist also finished with a 149, with her round of 75. The above four made up the Wildcats team score while
Paige Hillman tied with Anderson and Almquist carding a 74 (+3).
Macey Martin shaved seven strokes off her first round with a 74 (+3) moving into 21st place overall and
Jaycee Rhodes was two strokes behind tied in 23rd with a 36-hole score of 157.
Next up for St. Kate's is the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships as the Wildcats enter the tournament as the reigning champions. The 54-hole tournament will be played at St. Cloud Country Club Saturday-Monday with the team winner earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships in Houston, Texas in the spring.
