LAKE CITY, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University golf team competed in the Watkins Invite hosted by Winona State University at The Jewel in Lake City, Minnesota opening the tournament with the low round team score leading a field of Division II teams. St. Kate's is holding down first with a team score of 297, one stroke ahead of regionally ranked Minnesota State University Mankato and 18 strokes ahead of the University of Sioux Falls in third place.
Senior
Morgan Anderson leads the team with a two-over par 73 tying for second after the first round as
Grace Petzold and
Emma Almquist are three over shooting 74 to tie for fourth individually.
Kyra Venne finished the first round shooting 76 (+5) to make up the Wildcats team score.
Macey Martin appeared in the Wildcats top five lineup coming in with an 81 (+10).
Playing individually in the event is
Paige Hillman and
Jaycee Rhodes with Hillman in eighth carding a four over par 75 while Rhodes is tied for 21st with an eight over par 79.
St. Kate's will look to maintain the lead and claim their fourth team win after round two on Tuesday again at The Jewel in Lake City.
