ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team knocked down the visiting Augsburg University Auggies on Friday evening 3-1. The win extends the Wildcats win streak over the Auggies to five going back to 2021. St. Kate's is now 2-1 in conference play with an overall 10-7 record.
Four Wildcats posted double digit kills on Friday evening with
Liz Rosen,
Madison Fagan, and
Mallory Johnson each tallying 12.
Lexie Petrick was the fourth player in double digits, with her 18th career double double performance as she delivered 20 digs.
Lucia Neuman also had a double double with 22 assist and eleven digs but most impressively, adding six aces in the match. Fagan hit a .346 with five blocks as
Eleanor Erickson also added a career high five blocks.
The Auggies took the first set 25-17 as the Wildcats were off to a slow start. Set two was a different story though for St. Kate's as they switched gears tying the match after a 25-16 set win. In set three, St. Kate's hit an unreal .405 with 17 kills to take the set 25-14. The momentum carried into set four with St. Kate's posting 16 kills hitting .250 to take the set 25-19.
St. Kate's will travel to Si Melby Hall on Saturday on the campus of Augsburg University facing the University of Wisconsin-River Falls before taking on the University of Wisconsin-Plattville. The Wildcats will return to Butler Center on Friday, October 11 hosting Concordia College at 7 pm.
