ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team continued their win streak to seven after taking down the Saint Mary's University Cardinals at Butler Center on Friday evening. St. Kat'es 3-1 victory advances the team to 16-7 record with a 6-1 conference standing.
Top Wildcats
- Junior rightside hitter, Mallory Johnson had a match best 14 kills hitting .268 while contributing two blocks and three digs.
- Junior middle hitter Madison Fagan recorded ten kills hitting .292 with three blocks and one dig, scoring 11.5 points for the purple and gold.
- Senior libero, Brenna Essig posted a match high 31 digs with four assists and senior outside hitter, Lexie Petrick had 22 digs with eight kills and four aces.
- Senior setter, Lucia Nueman recorded a double double with 22 assists and 16 digs and one ace.
Notables
- St. Kate's took set two from the Cardinals by a score of 25-5, the team's largest margin of defeat this season.
- First-year Alexa Carlstrom went on an eight point rally from the service line getting St. Kate's from 12-9 to 18-9 in the third set.
- The score tied nine times throughout the match with five of them happening in set one and the other four in set three. The change in the lead only changed three times however.
The Wildcats return to Butler Center on Saturday evening hosting Bethel University at 5 pm. The Royals from Bethel are currently undefeated in MIAC play along with Gustavus Adolphus each one game ahead of the Wildcats at 7-0.
