ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University track & field team competed in the University of St. Thomas Opener on Friday afternoon with two Wildcats debuting along with three PR performances.
In the field, senior
Chando Horvath led the way for St. Kate's finishing 12th in the shot put with a mark of 10.72m and 13th in the weight throw at 12.47m. Junior
Abby Althoff was just behind Horvath in the shot put throwing a mark of 9.48m, good for 17th. She also appeared in the weight throw coming in 22nd overall with a mark of 10.04m.
Rookie
Maggie Lewandowski tallied a PR mark in the shot put coming in 22nd with a mark of 9.08m. Sophomore
Grace Kordus also had a PR day with career best marks in the shot put (7.94m) and weight throw (7.81m).
First-years
Kaitlyn Peterson and
Faduma Hassan debuted in indoor both competing in the 800m race coming in ninth and tenth, respectively. Peterson clocked in at 2:50.69 while Hassan trailed at 2:58.57.
Sophomore
Katie Yoder competed in the preliminary trials of the 60m dash with a 27th place finishing time of 8.93. Senior
Brenna Nelson finished 20th overall in the mile with a time of 6:36.27 and junior
Lily Harvey had a 12th place finish in the 3K.
The Wildcat indoor track & field team will compete again Saturday, January 20 at the Vanessa Slejeskog Classic hosted at Macalester College.
