MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team recorded a 3-1 MIAC win over Augsburg University in Minneapolis on Friday evening. St. Kate's advanced to 8-4 with a conference record of 2-1 after the defeat of the Auggies.
Tellez tallied her third double-double of her sophomore season with eleven kills and 15 digs leading the Wildcats in Minneapolis while also recording an impressive four aces.
Maggie Rosen and
Madison Fagan each had nine kills while Fagan was responsible for six blocks. Rookie
Eleanor Erickson joined Fagan with six blocks while Rosen added four.
Lucia Neuman had a match best 21 assists while first-year
Ella Rustand dished out 20.
St. Kate's battled in set one knotting the score seven times with five lead changes but ultimately coming out on top 25-17. Set two belonged to the Auggies taking it 25-20 and dominating with a quick 6-0 lead. St. Kate's tied it at 17-17 before the Auggies ran away with set two.
The Wildcats turned it around in the third set getting a quick 11-2 lead. They continued the rally with junior
Brenna Essig at the service line getting St. Kate's to 20-12 running away with the set at 25-16. In the fourth and final set, the Wildcats fought back from trailing 14-6 to claim the match 28-26.
St. Kate's travels to Storm Lake, Iowa on Saturday facing Buena Vista University at 3 pm.
