PELLA, Iowa -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team split with Greenville University and Bethany Lutheran College on the opening day of the 2022 season. The Wildcats swept Greenville 3-0 before falling 3-1 to Bethany Lutheran.

The rookie class had a great debut contributing 27 points in the first match led by first-year
Madison Fagan with nine kills and four blocks. The Wildcats overall were led by junior
Maggie Rosen hitting .409 with 12 kills and five digs. St. Kate's dominated the match taking the first and third set 25-19 while claiming the second set 25-17.
First-year
Tiff Tellez had 13 digs in her debut match plus six digs as rookie
Emily Bredman hit an impressive .545 with 7 kills.

St. Kate's took the opening set from the Knights 25-19 before falling in the final three sets. Junior libero
Claire Segner had a career-high 28 digs in the four-set match followed by Tellez tallying 21 digs. Sophomore
Lexie Petrick led offensively with 12 kills followed by Fagan with nine.
St. Kate's is back in action on Saturday with a 1 pm match against Marian University followed by a 3 pm match against Cornell College. Both matches will be played at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
