GRINNELL, Iowa -- The St. Catherine volleyball team picked up two wins on Saturday in Iowa with victories of Marian University and Cornell College to finish the weekend 3-1.

Todd Nelson. "Super excited about how the team played and how the team can way. It was a great way to start the season and we are excited about being at home next weekend."

The rookie duo of
Tiff Tellez and
Madison Fagan collected eight kills a piece in the first match leading the charge for the Wildcats. Junior
Claire Segner led defensively with 15 digs ahead of Tellez who was in double digits with 13 digs.
St. Kate's claimed the first set 25-13 before dropping set two 25-20. The Wildcats quickly regained their momentum picking up set scores of 25-14 and 25-12 for the win.

Junior
Maggie Rosen and Tellez were responsible for a combined 28 kills in the second match with senior
Lauren Skar adding nine. Tellez posted her first career double-double in the second match adding 11 digs as well. Segner topped match one by two digs with 17 total.
Tellez tallied 22 kills on the day posting eight kills for Wildcats in the first match and tying M. Rosen against Cornell with a career-high 14 kills. Segner finished the weekend with 32 digs averaging 3.56 per set.
